Masquerade by Nyrae Dawn - ARC

Masquerade by Nyrae Dawn
Bella's rating: 5 of 5 stars

**ARC via NetGalley**

Nyrae Dawn is one of my favorite authors. After reading Charade and Facade, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Masquerade!!

This book is told in alternating POV between Maddox and Bee.

We already know Maddox's story (pretty much) from Facade, but it's nice to get into his head. This man is wracked with guilt. His coping mechanism - shut off emotions and bolt. Ride his motorcycle and leave the feelings in the wind.

Bee's story was soo interesting. She was kidnapped as a child, but reunited with her family 9 years later. You always think - what a miracle, this family was reunited, everybody lives happily ever after. But really, she was torn into two. Her kidnappers took the child she was and changed her. They loved her and she loved them, but when she was returned to her parents and sister, she couldn't be the girl they once knew. Bee does the same thing as Maddox - she shuts everyone out and doesn't let love get the best of her. What is love anyways?

Maddox and Bee hook up and they both have a no strings attached rule. But then they meet again...

Things I LOVED about this book:
- no insta love. Maddox and Bee did NOT want to connect and fall in love. They fought it. But, they got each other. It was predictable that they would fall in love, but watching it unravel was awesome.
- Sexy chemistry. Maddox has tats and rides a motorcycle. Enough said.
- The writing is awesome - Nyrae Dawn brought me to tears yet again in this book. Not quite as bad of an ugly cry as Charade, but it was emotional none the less.
- We get to catch up on Cheyenne & Colt and Adrian & Laney. Loved getting glimpses of them.
- The characters grow throughout the book. You can see them learning that their coping mechanisms suck and they need to pull up their adult pants and get it together.

This book sucked me in and I could not put it down until it was done.

No CH!!

HEA!!

Sexy scenes!!

Highly recommend. (But you MUST read Charade and Facade first)

Scheduled release date: January 7th, 2014
